Omar and Marie are at dinner at her favorite restaurant. When the moment is right, Omar drops to one knee and pops the question. Will she say yes?
오마르와 마리는 마리가 좋아하는 레스토랑에서 저녁 중이다. 때가 오자, 오마르는 한쪽 무릎을 꿇고 청혼을 한다. 그녀가 받아 줄까?
- Drop to one knee: 한쪽 무릎을 꿇다
- Pop the question: 청혼하다.
Dialog
Marie: Tonight’s being wonderful. Did you know this is my favorite….Omar, why are you kneeling?
Omar: So many nights with you have been wonderful for the past three years. That’s why I want to know if you’d like to take the plunge and marry me.
Marie: Omar! I don’t know what to say. I’m………..speechless.
Omar: Then just say yes! And hold out your hand.
Marie: Sorry, I was just caught in the moment. Yes Omar! A hundred times yes!
(he slides the ring on her finger)
Omar: You’ve just made me the happiest man in the world.
마리: 오늘 밤은 정말 멋져. 알고 있었어? 여기가 내가 제일 좋아하는…… 오마르, 왜 무릎을 꿇어?
오마르: 지난 3년 동안 너와 함께한 수많은 밤은 정말 멋졌어. 나랑 과감하게 결혼해 줄래?
마리: 오마르! 무슨 말을 해야 할지 모르겠어. 난………..말문이 막혀.
오마르: 그럼 그냥 승낙해! 그리고 손 내밀어 봐.
마리: 미안해, 잠시 정신이 없었어. 오마르! 백 번이라도 ‘예스’야!
(반지를 손가락에 끼워준다)
오마르: 넌 방금 나를 세상에서 가장 행복한 남자로 만들었어.
Expressions
1. That’s why: 그래서 –했어.
2. Take the plunge: 큰 결단을 내리다. 과감히 뛰어들다. 지르다.
Take the plunge means to drop often into like water. Take the plunge means to commit to something that is big. It’s life changing, big life commitments (집을 사거나 아이를 갖거나 결혼을 하는 등 인생에서 큰 결단을 내리다)

B: Yeah I’m so excited and so scared.
A: 너 마침내 결단을 내려 대학원에 등록했다며

밥과 샌디는 심사숙고 끝에 과감히 해변에 레스토랑을 열었다.
3. Hold out something: 손 등을 내밀다 = stick it out.
We are hold out something which is too physically extend something, like stick it out.
A: Do you want to taste my pasta sauce?
B: Yeah, hold out the spoon for me.
A: 내 파스타 소스 좀 맛볼래?
B: 응, 스푼 좀 줘봐.
4. Caught in the moment: 순간에 몰두한, 사로잡힌, 정신이 혼미한
It means to be overly excited about something that you can’t focus on something else, you are only focused on that thing.

A: Why are you still clapping? Everyone is staring at you
B: Sorry I was so impressed by the music that I got caught in the moment.
A: 왜 아직도 박수를 치고 있어? 모두가 널 쳐다보잖아.
B: 미안. 음악에 너무 감동해서, 정신이 없었어.
2) We were caught in the moment as the fireworks exploded over us.
불꽃놀이가 우리 머리 위로 터질 때, 우린 그 순간에 사로잡혀 정신이 없었다.
5. That’s why –: 그래서, 결과적으로 내가 이걸 하는거야.

6. Speechless: 말문이 막힌, 어이가 없는
When one is speechless, they are unable to speak or put together a clear thought because they have been overcome by emotion or shock.
Speechless하게 되면, 감정이나 충격에 휩싸여 말을 못하거나 생각을 명확히 정리하지 못하게 된다.
