6-Day Korea Winter Trip Itinerary — Gyeongnam & Gyeongbuk
This Korea winter trip moved through places that were cold in weather but warm in spirit —
the quiet simplicity of Jirisan Mountain, the deeply moving history of Namhae’s German Village,
the vibrant living harbor city of Tongyeong, the gentle warmth of democracy in Bongha Village,
the stubborn Confucian legacy of Andong, and finally, a Catholic shrine where silence brought closure.

A place where you can feel both the beautiful winter scenery of Jirisan and its sharp, cutting winds at the same time.
Dried persimmons made in the cold Jirisan wind are especially delicious, and thanks to the festival, we were able to buy them at a very reasonable price.
🗓️ January 9 (Thu) — Sancheong → Namhae
🌸 Walk: Namsa Yedam Village

👉 A day of contrast — from a traditional village to an exotic German-style town
The stories of Korean miners sent to Germany, condensed memories of the pain of Korea’s modernization after the war.
The beautiful village they built left a strong impression.
The German Village felt unusually warm, both in sunlight and atmosphere.
But inside the exhibition hall, you come face to face with Korea’s painful modern history.
Beautiful scenery and heavy history remained side by side in memory.

👉 Tongyeong’s highlights in one full day
Pretty villages, a charming harbor, and a lively market filled with flapping fish — a vivid scene of everyday life.
Tongyeong was bustling with tourists and full of energy.
A small but solid city where you can directly experience the turtle ship of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, the hero of the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War).

👉 A day that made my heart ache
Bongha Village, where former President Roh Moo-hyun rests,
a leader who elevated Korean democracy to the next level.
After his passing, the memorial was built by the hands of grieving citizens.

Visiting Pyeongsan Bookstore, quietly run by former President Moon Jae-in after retirement,
I felt my chest tighten with emotion.
In the evening, we visited Manhyujeong Pavilion, a filming location for Mr. Sunshine.
🗓️ January 12 (Sun) — Andong Tour

🌲 Scenery: Gosanjeong Pavilion
🏨 Stay: Cygnus 385 Hotel
🍔 Dinner: McDonald’s delivery
🍜 Late-night snack: Ramen & toast
👉 A day to feel the weight of tradition
A clan village stubbornly preserved by the Ryu family,
a representative yangban lineage of the Joseon Dynasty.
Along with its beauty, there was also a sense of rigid exclusiveness toward outsiders.
Gosanjeong and Woryeongjeong were especially beautiful,
and Andong’s signature dishes — salted mackerel and heotjesabap — were incredibly satisfying.
🗓️ January 13 (Mon) — Andong→ Boeun→ Sejong
🚗 Travel: Andong → Boeun
⛪ Visit: Myeongeumok Catholic Shrine
🌲 Walk & reflection: Forest paths around the shrine
Most of the road leading there was mountainous, and the frozen surface made the drive honestly quite difficult.
That’s why the sight of the unique and beautiful church upon arrival
felt like a reward for all the hardship.
👉 A closing route that moves from Andong’s quietness
👉 to the deep silence of Boeun
👉 Ending the journey not with “sightseeing,” but with reflection and space
This journey through southern Korea reminded me that winter travel isn’t about comfort — it’s about clarity, warmth found in unexpected places, and the quiet moments that stay with you.
