🍂 Chuseok Holiday at Our Countryside Villa — A K-Barbecue Night to Remember
After several days of rain, the sky over Gongju finally cleared.
The air felt crisp, touched with both the warmth of summer and the scent of early autumn.

This year, instead of holding a traditional ancestral ritual,
our family decided to spend the Chuseok holiday in our countryside villa —
a day to give thanks in our own way.

Instead of holding a formal ancestral ritual, we gathered at our countryside villa to simply be together.
We wanted to celebrate gratitude in our own way — with laughter, food, and the smell of charcoal smoke drifting through the evening air.
🪵 The Joy of Preparation
We started the fire in the backyard,
laying out thick slices of pork belly, potatoes, sausages, sweet potatoes,
and chestnuts — a sweet gift from the lady next door.

As the charcoal began to glow and smoke gently rose,
the whole yard filled with that irresistible aroma of Korean barbecue.
Some were grilling the meat, others washed the lettuce,
and someone was already pouring cold beer —
each person moving naturally, laughing, and sharing stories.

🍖 The Magic of K-Barbecue – The Feast
When the table was finally set,
it was covered in a rainbow of colors —
crispy samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), kimchi,
fresh garlic and peppers, sesame leaves, and ssamjang sauce.

Wrapped together in one perfect bite,
the smoky flavor, the crunch of vegetables,
and the savory pork created pure happiness.

The smoke danced upward, the sky blushed with sunset light,
and laughter rose with it.
From the foil, we pulled out perfectly roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes,
their skin crisp and the inside soft and caramelized.
Each bite tasted like comfort, warmth, and nostalgia.
🌕 Under the Autumn Sky
As the sun went down,
we gathered again under the deep indigo sky.
Soft lights flickered on the table,
and gentle laughter blended with the night air.
Someone quietly raised a glass of beer,
someone split a steaming sweet potato in half,
and for a moment, the world felt perfectly still.

“This feels like what Chuseok should really be.”
🔥 Firelight & Togetherness
The flames slowly settled into glowing embers —
that beautiful stage between fire and ash.
We leaned back, staring at the flickering orange light.
No one was in a hurry.
No one was thinking about tomorrow.
Just the warmth, the sound of family voices, and the quiet night around us.
Someone murmured, “We should do this every year.”
Another nodded, eyes reflecting the glow of the coals.
The fire eventually dimmed,
but its warmth stayed long after we left the table.
That night reminded us how beautiful it is —
simply to be together. 🌿
