On December 9th, 2025, I rewatched Mr. Sunshine on Netflix— still, undeniably, the greatest drama of my life.
To hold on to that lingering emotion, I headed to Sunshine Studio in Nonsan, the very filming site of the drama.
Located right next to the Nonsan Army Training Center— the beginning of Korea’s national defense— the studio was filled with soldiers that day, visiting for historical education.
There was something poetic about watching them walk the streets of this recreated era, echoing the spirit of the righteous armies portrayed in the show.

The first thing you see at the entrance.
This is the very train where Eugene Choi sacrifices himself to save Ae-shin in the final episode.

2. The Glory Hotel

From the terrace, you get a panoramic view of Jingogae Street and Hongyegyo Bridge.

3. Jingogae Street (Japanese Settlement Street)
A narrow alley beside the hotel.
Based on real historical streets like Chungmuro and Honmachi

4. 🍶 The Tavern Where the Three Men Shared Drinks & Dongmae’s Room
A small, dimly lit tavern that recreates the unforgettable scene where Eugene, Dong-mae, and Hee-sung shared drinks together.
Their unlikely friendship — full of rivalry, honesty, and unspoken respect — comes alive in this cozy corner of the studio.
On the 2nd floor, there is Dong-mae’s room — a recreated Japanese-style residence capturing his solitary, conflicted world. A must-see spot for fans of his character.

5. French Bakery
Where the chef sold colorful old-fashioned candy in the drama.
Inside, the red-bean shaved ice that Ae-shin shared with Haman-daek, and the rainbow castella she once ate with Hina—
both are displayed here, quietly holding the sweetness of those moments.
6. Hongyegyo Bridge
A legendary filming location:
Where Eugene and Ae-shin first shared unforgettable moments
Where Hong-pa met her tragic fate
Where electricity was introduced to Hanyang in the drama’s storyline

7. Hanseong Electric
Hanseong Electric, founded in 1898 by King Gojong, was Korea’s first electric company, later becoming a symbol of Japanese authority during the colonial era.
The original building no longer exists, but Sunshine Studio recreated it based on historical records.
In Mr. Sunshine, this is where Ae-shin and Eugene carried out their sniper mission.
Today, the space functions as a small museum and café,

8. Jongno Street
Jongno Street begins right outside the Hanseong Electric building.
This recreated boulevard reflects the heart of early 1900s Hanyang, lined with shops, signboards, and tram tracks that capture the busy energy of the era.

A restored replica of the Imperial Marshal Headquarters of the Korean Empire.

16. Three Men’s Flower-Petal Date
The trio once jokingly called the Badeungjjo—those three “loveable fools”—
had such beautiful, unforgettable chemistry together. The scene was filmed in front of the exhibition hall Moonbanggu (“Stationery Shop”).
The tree in the courtyard appears to have been a jujube or cherry tree.
17. Gobang of the Madang-jip
The Gobang (storeroom) of the Madang-jip is recreated as Go Ae-shin’s house, serving as the secret hideout of the Righteous Army.
This quiet, traditional space is where Ae-shin concealed weapons and supplies—
